He said: "The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Iranian Islamic
Republic issued a statement attacking me and refuting that such a
statement on the deteriorating human rights situation in Iran and
support of MEPs exists.
"Contrary to those insinuations, spread by IRNA, the Iranian Official
News Agency, I confirm in the most formal way that the joint statement
is authentic and was signed by more than 200 MEPs from all the political
groups and representing all EU member countries.
"I would like to insist on the following fact: this statement is not
intended to criticize the Iranian people but the regime because it does
not respect fundamentals human rights.
